You’ll find something a little extra special at these fine-dining establishment, some sporting Michelin stars, others with Michelin-star chefs at the helm. If you fancy fresh fish then Can Eduardo is one of the best, or check out Pesquero on the waterfront. Tapas in Palma

When in Spain why not try tapas – the very trendy Tast Club is one of the most popular with well-to-do locals but it is difficult to get a table so reserve in advance. The Tast Group opened the stylish Ram Bar on La Rambla and is a must-visit place. The restaurant of hotel Cort – opposite the town hall in the centre of the city – serves excellent tapas in a stylish interior (or al fresco on the front terrace). Cor Barra i Taula, located by the fresh food market, Mercat de L’Olivar, is a place to share Mediterranean tapas with a twist designed by acclaimed chef Santi Taura.

For vegetarians we recommend the well-known restaurant Bon Lloc(four-course menu del día), the first vegetarian restaurant in Palma and still up there with the best.

International Kitchen in Palma

For Italian go to A Casa Mia or Ribello. If it is Japanese you are lusting after, favourites are Arume, or Daruma. The best Chinese restaurant on Mallorca – Made in China – offers excellent Peking duck. Try De Tokio a Lima, within Can Alomar Luxury Boutique Hotel, for Japanese/Peruvian fusion cuisine, overlooking the smart Borne thoroughfare. For authentic Mexican food, head to Manataco where owner Rubèn Guerra Gàmez invites you to try authentically-made, traditional tacos. The menu offers the type of food you’d expect to find in the heart of Mexico City – zingy flavours, bright colours and lots of spicy sauces.

Restaurants in front of the sea in Palma

If you are dreaming of sipping a glass of cava with sea views in Palma these restaurants are very nicely located: Mar de Nudos, and A Popa. In a prime front-line position on the Bay of Palma can be found at Katagi Blau, boasting sea views and a luxury hotel location in Hotel Llaut Palace. The menu leans towards Asian fusion and the restaurant boasts out of the best sea-view rooftop terraces in the area.

Hidden Jewels in Palma

This collection of restaurants are not the most simple to find, but certainly worth seeking out. While centrally located, the understated Canela restaurant is easy to miss, but offers great food in an intimate setting. And just along the same road, El Patio de Gloria offers diners an excellent and eclectic menu fusing comfort food with innovative twists. Tucked away nearby, on a side street just off busy Jaume III, Fera delights the senses with a superb menu of Asian-Mediterranean fusion. Set in the Posada Terra Sant boutique hotel, La Despensa del Baron offers Mediterranean cuisine with South American and Asian influences or nearby at La Vieja de Jonay Hernández try some creative and delicious cuisine served in different and unique ways . The M House Café Bistro can also be tricky to locate, but offers outstanding Modern Mediterranean cuisine in a secluded terrace in central Palma. Heading to the acclaimed Hotel Sant Francesc and you the choice of two hidden gastronomic gems, in the fine dining Quadrat and their rooftop bar. Clandestí aptly means ‘secret’ and there’s a hideaway feel to the Clandestí Taller Gastronòmic restaurant, which is owned and run by two talented young chefs and located in Palma’s Bon Aires neighbourhood.

From Markets in Palma

There are various options for dining in a buzzy market atmosphere, either in an authentic Palma markets amongst the fresh produce or in market-style spaces lined with food stalls. Santa Catalina and the centrally-located Olivar markets are the former, with both offering excellent sushi options (with Santa Catalina highlights including Es Racó d’es Sushi and Arume sushi bar). The San Juan Gastronomic Market  has almost 20 stands offering everything from Thai to freshly cooked seafood, while Mercat 1930  is a smaller version on the Paseo Marítimo, both can get lively late.

Tucked away in a corner of the mountains, this Michelin star restaurant brings the many rich and varied flavours of the island to the table. Enjoy spectacular views over the valley from the spacious terrace, or savour a sense of intimacy in the romantic interior.

 

Bens D’Avall

Disconnect with stunning views of the mountains and sea at this family-run restaurant. Reborn each month due to being dependent on seasonal produce, their menus are exciting, and each dish exquisitely presented. Choose from two sophisticated tasting menus, or á la carte menu.

 

Restaurante El Olivo

A fine dining experience in the luxuriously-positioned Hotel Belmond La Residencia; El Olivo offers a tasting, á la carte and a vegetarian menu, as well as an excellent wine list. The Mediterranean cuisine is complimented by the attractive decor of this former 16th century olive press, and the stunning views over Deià.

 

Restaurante Sebastián

Dine by candlelight at this cosy restaurant, which specialises in Mallorcan flavours with an occasional Asiatic twist. The essence of this 250 year old former stable is captured in the exposed stone walls, and integrates perfectly with the surrounding landscape. The rack of local lamb is a firm favourite here.

 

Nama

Modern Southeast Asian cuisine wows the senses as this chic restaurant along Deià’s main street. Enticing sharing menus made with organic produce, an interesting selection of vegan and gluten-free dishes, and beautiful views are just some of the draws of this attractive venue.

 

Ca’s Patro March

An informal waterfront setting beside Cala Deià. The ocean views and fresh fish keep this place busy during the summer months. Soak up the seaside atmosphere beneath a rickety awning as you tuck in to succulent seafood and local wine.

 

Ca’s Xorc

Mallorcan-Mediterranean cuisine stars at this picturesque boutique hotel located between Deià and Sóller. From red shrimps to black pork, the ingredients are locally sourced and organic wherever possible. Dine within the reformed olive press or on the idyllic terrace with views of the valley.

ll Chiringuito

Can Blanc Beach

Max Garden

ll Tano

Passionate about genuine Italian cuisine, owner Alessandro Leo now has three restaurants on Mallorca. High quality ingredients go into their menu, which includes a wide variety of wood oven cooked pizzas – just don’t ask for a Hawaiian! – as well as many southern Italian favourites. Saigon Baguette

A no frills venue serving authentic Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. Their flavoursome dishes are all freshly prepared, which does on occasion incur a wait. If you’re not in a hurry and would love to taste some delicious and well-priced curries, don’t hesitate to make a visit.

 

Ciro’s

The spacious terrace of this Mediterranean restaurant offers stunning views overlooking the bay. They specialise in paella, seafood and fish dishes, though meat lovers will also find plenty on their menu. Groups are welcomed and special set menus can be arranged. An elegant yet relaxed environment for all the family.

 

My Thai

Chefs from Bangkok conjure up colourful favourites of Thai cuisine at this restaurant along the beach walk. Accompany your meal with a refreshing Thai beer, or good Spanish wine. A tasty choice whatever the weather, with both interior and exterior seating available.

 

Sakana Sushi

 A smart venue dedicated to high quality Japanese cuisine. Their focus is on sushi made with premium ingredients. Located very close to the seaside, you’ll be able to enjoy the sea breeze from their spacious terrace. Sakana Noodle is their sister restaurant based in Palma.

 

The Olive Tree

This welcoming restaurant has an attractive terrace with views overlooking Son Matías beach. Supportive of its local community, the kitchen prioritises organic ingredients from Mallorca. On the menu is a variety of tapas, fish & seafood, meat dishes and luxurious desserts.

 

Morocco Lounge & Roofbar

Cafè Palmanova – Amadip Esment Fundació

A ‘gastronomic project with social value’ is how this foundation refers to its three spacious and light-filled restaurants. Giving worthy employment to those with special needs, and prioritising local ingredients, are just two of their principles. Their three course set lunch menu is excellent value. A number of restaurants stay open all year around, catering to the appetites of local residents. Santosha

This hidden gem in the heart of Palma is run by Ruth and Eran, who have taken inspiration from their travels and designed a menu rooted in sustainable cooking. Their hummus platter with roasted vegetables is always a crowd-pleaser, specially when washed down with a glass of white wine. Or, for a winter warmer, the hot turmeric drink arrives like sunshine in a cup, and is best made with oat milk. Exposed brickwork, quirky art and mismatched furniture conjure thoughts of a life well travelled, inspired by new foods and cultures.

 

Plaer Natural

A two-minute walk from Plaza Mayor you will find the cobbled square of Plaza de la Quartera. In the summer this little plaza is buzzing with music and chit-chat enjoyed over a feast of vegetarian food. Their chalkboard outside displays the menu of the day, which for three plates plus dessert is €15, or for one plate less, €11.70. Home-made soups and plant-packed burgers are all to be enjoyed outside in the plaza or inside in their small but very cute restaurant.

 

Eco Vegetaria

Reach the end of Calle de Cotoner in Santa Catalina and there – facing a plant-green exterior – you will find the family-run EcoVegetaria. Potted plants and candlelit tables make this a veggie favourite in Palma, where diners can enjoy can a menu of the day for €10.95. Their rice dishes are raved about far and wide for their creamy textures and creative play. The 24-carat gold and tikka masala rice is just one of many that chef Jesús Garcia serves steaming hot and topped with edible flowers.

 

Bagel

Just off Plaza Cort is Bagel run by the warm and welcoming Andrew and Stephan. At 6am, Stephan is in the café basement firing up their traditional American bagel machine – the only place in Mallorca to do so. Their bagels are 100% vegan, fresh and full of flavour. Swathes of cashew nut cream, mashed avocado and fresh marmalade are just some of the options available. Andrew, a master barista, is proud to serve illy coffee alongside their bagels, which can be enjoyed al fresco or inside.

No place in Palma understands the power of plants more than at Vegan and Raw. Alongside offering a daily vegan menu, Beverly Pugh and her team, run wellbeing workshops, detox programs and talks. The cosy café doubles as a Food Farmacy, where visitors can learn about the benefits of eating raw food and adopting a vegan diet. Their 100% organic vegetarian and vegan menu comprises vibrant salad bowls, raw cakes and gut-loving kombucha – all made with love and care. You will first enter their shop – arrayed with Indian prints and incenses – and then further through, find a cool eating area with rustic wooden tables. The world is put right at Temple, where, sure enough yoga sessions can also be enjoyed.

 

Temple Natura

Craving some peace in Palma? The tropical garden at Temple Natura is a quiet sanctuary in the area of Calatrava, where visitors relax under a canopy of palm leaves. In the heat of the summer, this is where you’ll find some much-needed shade while you tuck into your delicious meat-free lunch. Their Super Vegan Nachos always go down well, as do their home-made lemonade and energy juices.
