FISH RESTAURANTS IN PALMA
If you fancy fresh fish then Can Eduardo is one of the best, or check out Pesquero on the waterfront. When in Spain why not try tapas – the very trendy Tast Club is one of the most popular with well-to-do locals but it is difficult to get a table so reserve in advance. The Tast Group opened the stylish Ram Bar on La Rambla and is a must-visit place. The restaurant of hotel Cort – opposite the town hall in the centre of the city – serves excellent tapas in a stylish interior (or al fresco on the front terrace). Cor Barra i Taula, located by the fresh food market, Mercat de L’Olivar, is a place to share Mediterranean tapas with a twist designed by acclaimed chef Santi Taura.

For vegetarians we recommend the well-known restaurant Bon Lloc(four-course menu del día), the first vegetarian restaurant in Palma and still up there with the best.
INTERNATIONAL KITCHEN IN PALMA
For Italian go to A Casa Mia or Ribello. If it is Japanese you are lusting after, favourites are Arume, or Daruma. The best Chinese restaurant on Mallorca – Made in China – offers excellent Peking duck. Try De Tokio a Lima, within Can Alomar Luxury Boutique Hotel, for Japanese/Peruvian fusion cuisine, overlooking the smart Borne thoroughfare. For authentic Mexican food, head to Manataco where owner Rubèn Guerra Gàmez invites you to try authentically-made, traditional tacos. The menu offers the type of food you’d expect to find in the heart of Mexico City – zingy flavours, bright colours and lots of spicy sauces.
RESTAURANTS IN FRONT OF THE SEA IN PALMA
If you are dreaming of sipping a glass of cava with sea views in Palma these restaurants are very nicely located: Mar de Nudos, and A Popa. In a prime front-line position on the Bay of Palma can be found at Katagi Blau, boasting sea views and a luxury hotel location in Hotel Llaut Palace. The menu leans towards Asian fusion and the restaurant boasts out of the best sea-view rooftop terraces in the area.
HIDDEN JEWELS IN PALMA
This collection of restaurants are not the most simple to find, but certainly worth seeking out. While centrally located, the understated Canela restaurant is easy to miss, but offers great food in an intimate setting. And just along the same road, El Patio de Gloria offers diners an excellent and eclectic menu fusing comfort food with innovative twists. Tucked away nearby, on a side street just off busy Jaume III, Fera delights the senses with a superb menu of Asian-Mediterranean fusion. Set in the Posada Terra Sant boutique hotel, La Despensa del Baron offers Mediterranean cuisine with South American and Asian influences or nearby at La Vieja de Jonay Hernández try some creative and delicious cuisine served in different and unique ways . The M House Café Bistro can also be tricky to locate, but offers outstanding Modern Mediterranean cuisine in a secluded terrace in central Palma. Heading to the acclaimed Hotel Sant Francesc and you the choice of two hidden gastronomic gems, in the fine dining Quadrat and their rooftop bar. Clandestí aptly means ‘secret’ and there’s a hideaway feel to the Clandestí Taller Gastronòmic restaurant, which is owned and run by two talented young chefs and located in Palma’s Bon Aires neighbourhood.
FROM MARKETS IN PALMA
There are various options for dining in a buzzy market atmosphere, either in an authentic Palma markets amongst the fresh produce or in market-style spaces lined with food stalls. Santa Catalina and the centrally-located Olivar markets are the former, with both offering excellent sushi options (with Santa Catalina highlights including Es Racó d’es Sushi and Arume sushi bar). The San Juan Gastronomic Market has almost 20 stands offering everything from Thai to freshly cooked seafood, while Mercat 1930 is a smaller version on the Paseo Marítimo, both can get lively late.
